Prince Harry and Meghan Markle engaged: Couple to marry in spring

    Nov 27, 2017

Prince Harry is to marry American actress Meghan Markle, it has been announced, with the Royal family flocking to congratulate the couple.

Clarence House confirmed the much-anticipated news that the Prince, 33, and his 36-year-old girlfriend are engaged in a statement on Monday morning.

The royal wedding will take place in the spring of next year. Prince Harry and Ms Markle will appear at a photocall at Kensington Palace on Monday afternoon to celebrate their engagement and record a television broadcast due to be screened on Monday evening.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh said they were "delighted" for their grandson and his bride-to-be, and "wish them every happiness".

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said: "We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."

Ms Markle's parents wished their daughter and Harry "a lifetime of happiness", adding: "We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry.

"Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents."

Visiting Poundbury in Dorset on Monday, the Prince of Wales said he was "thrilled" and "very happy indeed" for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Fifth in line to the throne Harry has been dating Ms Markle - who found fame in the US legal drama Suits - since the summer of 2016.

Their 16-month whirlwind romance blossomed when they met through mutual friends in London, and the pair have been almost inseparable in recent months.

The much-anticipated news was confirmed by the Prince of Wales in a brief statement issued by Clarence House.

It was the moment the world had been waiting for and Meghan Markle didn't disappoint in the sartorial stakes as she made her first public appearance with new fiance, Prince Harry.

The Suits actress, who today announced her engagement to Prince Harry, showcased the stunning ring designed by Prince Harry himself with one stone from Botswana, where he and Meghan recently holidayed, and two diamonds from Diana’s personal collection.

Meghan looked resplendent in a chic belted white coat dress from Line the Label, which she wore over a dress by Parosh and offset with vertiginous heels as she cosied up to her prince charming.

Prince Harry designed the engagement ring, which was made by Cleave and Company, Court Jewellers and Medallists to Her Majesty The Queen.

At its centre is a diamond from Botswana, a country that holds special significance for Prince Harry who has visited many times since he was a child. It is also a place the couple has spent time together over the last year and a half.

The ring features two outside stones which are diamonds from the personal collection of Prince Harry's mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Poignantly the royal chose their first photocall in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, much loved by his late mother Diana.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want wedding cake made from banana, source claims

    December 3, 2017

Thirteen months ago, Meghan Markle’s cryptic Instagram post of two bananas "cuddling" signalled the start of her whirlwind romance with Prince Harry.

The picture - accompanied by the message "sleep tight" and two kisses - sent fans into overdrive as they speculated that it was likely a symbol of their long-distance love.

Now, it seems, the fruit is set to play a central role in their wedding too.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that the couple, who announced their engagement last week, are planning on marking their big day with a wedding cake made from bananas.

“This will be the first royal wedding cake made from bananas”, a source close to the couple told The Telegraph.

As well as acting as a symbol for their affection, Prince Harry is said to love "anything with banana".

His former royal chef, Darren McGrady, has previously spoken about making the young Prince a caramel and banana cake.

He cooked for the Prince and his brother until the death of their mother Princess Diana in 1997, liaising with her about what he was serving up on a daily basis.

In a separate interview with Hello! magazine, he said Prince Harry along with his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, "loved banana flan, anything with banana really, banana ice cream".

Wedding tradition dictates that the top tier of the cake is a fruit cake, because it is long lasting and is then served at the christening of the couple's first child.

Their apparent decision to go with a banana cake, instead of the typical fruit cake, is similar to the Duke and Duchess.

They had a groom's cake made of chocolate biscuits for their reception at Buckingham Palace as well as a traditional eight-tiered cake.

But award-winning wedding cake designer Rosalind Miller said traditional fruit cakes were no longer the typical choice for couples, who are instead increasingly opting for flavoured sponges largely influenced by American preferences.

“A traditional wedding cake is a rich fruit cake, like a Christmas cake, where all the cake is soaked in alcohol first,” she said.

“But with Meghan being American, they are more used to having sponge cakes. We find that in actual fact, most couples that come to us also want sponge cakes these days. The traditional rich fruit cake is not very popular now.”

Ms Miller said the Prince and Ms Markle were far from the only couple opting for a different taste, with banana, vanilla, lemon and even lavender as popular choices. “People are becoming more aware of different flavours,” she said.

The Prince and Ms Markle, 36, have been tight-lipped about their wedding preparations so far, with much of it still in its very early stages.

Royalists are waiting in anticipation for any fresh announcements beyond what we already know - that the ceremony will take place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on a date in May.

In a statement, the couple added that it would be a "moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters of the bride and groom".

The Sunday Times reported that Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2, will join their aunt-to-be’s wedding party after being given the roles of pageboy and bridesmaid.

The children have both met Ms Markle on many occasions, but Kensington Palace - where the Royal couple will reside at Nottingham Cottage - are yet to confirm any further details.

“The wedding will be a family event. You can expect the family to be involved,” a spokesman told the paper.

Meghan Markle's reclusive father WILL walk her down the aisle

    Dec 4, 2017

Thomas Markle, 73, plans to give Meghan Markle away despite a leg injury, says his family.

He will attend the wedding at Windsor in May despite not been seen in public since the relationship began.

Thomas’s estranged son Tom Jnr, 51, said: “Dad never liked the limelight, but since the news came out about Meghan and Harry he’s become a total recluse.

"I haven’t seen him in years.

"He hates the attention Meghan’s romance has brought on to him.

“He loves her but hates the idea of being in the spotlight.

“Dad loves Meghan more than anything.

"Meghan has always been her Daddy’s princess and he will be there when she marries her real-life prince.”

Thomas was declared bankrupt in September 2016, with Ł24,000 debts.

He is a retired TV lighting director who worked on major US shows like Married With Children and General Hospital and won an Emmy for the latter in 2011.

Meghan’s uncle and Thomas’s brother Michael, 78, said: “Thomas feels happy and excited about the engagement.

"He and Meghan have a good relationship

"They talk weekly so she keeps him up to date.”

Harry has spoken to his future father in law.

Meghan said: “He’s talked to my Dad a few times but he hasn’t been able to meet him just yet.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to marry on 19 May 2018

    Dec 15, 2017

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding will be held on Saturday 19 May 2018, Kensington Palace has announced.

The pair confirmed their engagement in November and said the service would be at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The date breaks with tradition as royal weddings usually take place on a weekday - the Queen wed on a Thursday and the Duke of Cambridge on a Friday.

The wedding will be on the same day as the FA Cup Final, which Prince William normally attends as FA president.

The time of the match has yet to be confirmed, but in recent years it has taken place at 17:30 GMT.

The Royal Family will pay for the wedding, including the service, music, flowers and reception.

Ms Markle will be baptised into the Church of England and confirmed before the wedding.

George reminds me the most of Diana's brother Charles.

Charlotte looks just like the Queen!

    Cute picture!
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Royal Baby No. 3 Arrived on a Significant Day in British History
    April 23, 2018

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed royal baby number three today. But the arrival of the new little prince means more than a change to the British Line of Succession—his birthday’s actually a national holiday close to the royal family’s heart.
Today, April 23, marks St. George’s Day, a feast holiday (yep, like Thanksgiving) that celebrates the patron saint of England. St. George has been the official protector of the royal family since the middle ages, so yeah, he’s a pretty big deal.
As the story goes, St. George was a soldier in the Roman army who was tortured for refusing to renounce his Christian faith. His cross is featured on the English flag and the U.K. Union Jack flag.
Wondering why you’ve never heard of St. George’s Day? Well, popularity of the holiday died out in the 16th century, but it’s experiencing a resurgence.
St. George’s Day is also the day the royal family announces nominations for the Order of the Garter, the highest and longest running order of chivalry in the U.K. Nominees attend a special ceremony in June at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, aka the location of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May 19 wedding

Royal family tree: How the line of succession to the British throne has changed with the new royal baby boy

    Telegraph Reporters
    The Telegraph25 April 2018

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The new Royal baby boy, born on Monday morning just after 11am, has created history and will slot in as fifth-in-line to the throne.
Prince William and his wife Kate's third child means the new line of succession will see the new Prince of Cambridge follow the Prince of Wales, Duke of Cambridge, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Historically, Princess Charlotte would have lost her spot to her younger brother, but new legislation introduced in 2013 overhauled the order of succession

The newborn has also pushed Prince Andrew down to seventh-in-line, meaning he will not have to ask his mother's permission if he wanted to re-marry.
According to the new legislation, the first six people in the line of succession must obtain the Queen's permission to marry.
Previously, under a law dating back to 1772, all descendants of George II had to seek the monarch's permission.
The birth of a new baby for the Cambridges means the Duke of York can technically marry without the express permission of his mother.

Prince Louis Arthur Charles: British royals William and Kate name their baby
    4/27/2018

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Britain's Prince William and his wife Kate have named their newborn son Louis Arthur Charles, who will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge, Kensington Palace said on Friday.
The prince, who is fifth in line to the British throne, was born at 1001 GMT on April 23 weighing 8 lbs 7oz.
Louis is William's fourth name as well as being that of Earl Mountbatten, to whom William's father Prince Charles was particularly close. Mountbatten was the uncle of Prince Philip, 96, great-grandfather of the new prince.

Charles, heir to the throne, has said it was a great joy to have another grandchild.
William and Kate now have three children: Louis joins Charlotte, 2, and George, 4.
For a boy, the leading bets were for Albert, Arthur, Alexander, James and Philip. The betting odds indicated just a 5 percent chance of Louis

Royal wedding 2018: See Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's official wedding portraits

Royal wedding 2018: See Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's official wedding portraits
    May 21st 2018
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The official royal wedding photos are here and don't they all look happy?
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan of Sussex released three wedding portraits Monday, taken by official wedding photographer Alexi Lubomirski in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle following the couple's fairy-tale carriage procession after their nuptials in St. George's Chapel Saturday.
Kensington Palace issued a statement declaring the two "delighted" with the pictures and happy to share them.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would like to thank everyone who took part in the celebrations of their wedding on Saturday," the statement said. "They feel so lucky to have been able to share their day with all those gathered in Windsor and also all those who watched the wedding on television across the UK, Commonwealth, and around the world.
"Their Royal Highnesses ... would also like to say thank you for all of the generous messages of support they have received."

One picture shows Harry and Meghan with their family and their pageboys and bridesmaids, including Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, Prince William and Duchess Kate of Cambridge, seen holding Princess Charlotte on her lap.
The second picture shows the couple with their pageboys and bridesmaids, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. In this picture, George, 4, is grinning, as if he were saying "cheese," while Charlotte, 3, has a broad smile on her face.
The other children are (from left to right): Brian Mulroney (who stole the show with his gap-tooth grin as he trailed Markle into the chapel), Remi Litt, Rylan Litt, Jasper Dyer, Ivy Mulroney, John Mulroney, Zalie Warren and Florence van Cutsem. All are the offspring of friends of Harry or Meghan.

Harry and Meghan pose with their bridesmaids and pageboys. Prince George is to Meghan's right while Princess Charlotte is the second from the left in the front row
