BARRON CO. (WEAU) -- It’s been more than a month since 13-year-old Jayme Closs disappeared from her home in Barron County after her parents were found dead.

The community of Barron has continually showed support.

This holiday season the community is spreading a message of hope in a special way.
The Barron County Clerk of Court office decided to decorate a tree this year in honor of Jayme Closs, as the town remains hopeful for her return.

Decorating a Christmas tree has been a tradition at the justice center since 2004
Participants say at times the decorating theme is discussed at some length, but this year the idea came quickly.

“This tree is about Jayme,” said Sharon Millermon, Barron County Clerk of Court. “Jayme doesn't leave our minds. She's always on our minds and we remain hopeful.”

Investigators conducting more interviews in search for Jayme Closs

    November 27, 2018 10:32 PM

The search for 13-year-old Jayme Closs has been ongoing for nearly a month and a half. There are still no credible leads in the case.

The investigative team has been scaled back to about 30 people, including members of the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.

Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the team was reduced about a week and a half ago.
On Tuesday, he said, the team held a conference call and decided to cast a wider net to try to find a lead.

I have followed this one closely. So many opinions on what could have happened but not one clue as to what did happen!

Gambling debts, the Samolions did it, a dispute at work, casino debts, mafia ties, mom having an affair, parents abusive to daughter so somebody was there to save her. Plus many more.

    The imagination has no boundaries!

Video surveillance could solve the mystery behind the disappearance of Jayme Closs

    Dec. 6, 2018

    snippet:

“The video will help us solve the case,” Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin. “We don’t see Jayme on any of the videos. But once we arrest a suspect, it will help us convict (the person responsible).”

Police Reveal Puzzling New Details in Wisconsin Teen Jayme Closs Kidnapping

BY [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    December 7, 2018 Updated: December 7, 2018

    snippets:
    Orderly Crime Scene
“The house wasn’t disturbed at all from what we were able to tell,” Fitzgerald told the station. “That’s part of the confusing part of this case.”
A gunman shot the Closs couple to death in their house on Oct. 15, snatched their 13-year-old daughter, and vanished.

    No Forensic Evidence
Investigators are also troubled by the utter lack of forensic evidence left by the killer.
“That’s the frustrating part of it,” Fitzgerald told DailyMailTV. “We’ve had four different lab teams look at the scene before we released it. We were very strategic. When we discovered it was a major crime we sealed it off immediately.

    Bullet Casings
The sheriff said the only thing the shooter left behind was bullet casings.
The caliber of the rounds fired was something Fitzgerald would not reveal, saying that this information was being withheld as a matter of investigative strategy.
“Only the killer is going to know that and that’s information we have to hold close to the case so that when we catch this person we can convict them,” he said.

    A Desperate Hope
Fitzgerald revealed that it’s possible that in the course of interviews with members of the community, detectives may already have spoken with Jayme’s kidnapper.
But despite the combined efforts of the FBI, State Police and Sheriff’s Department, as well as a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or Jayme’s discovery, investigators still have little to go on and nothing more than hope to suggest the teen is still alive.

A very lucky nutjob at that, or one who had everything carefully planned out. The police missed him (assuming it's a him) by mere minutes.

There is some physic I think named Larry who gives his reading on what happened! I'll try to find it and bring it over.
In the mean time it's some 19 year old near area boy who liked jayme but dad said no! Made kid mad. He came back killed Closses took jayme killed her. She's buried under leaves and will be found in the Spring. Kids a bit off and had anger problems.

That makes some sense to me because with taking jayme I do believe she was the target!

It very well be a nutjob thinking they were "saving" Jayme, one who planned very well and seems to have had some tactical training.

But I think it was a little more than just "saving" Jayme because they waited for everyone to be home especially the father, so they could annihilate the parents. Waited until all the usual phone calls were done b/w parents and family....waited for Jayme's phone call was finished with her friend...all by approximately 10 pm.

Someone studied the habits and stalked the situation and then struck knowing which way police were likely coming (maybe had a scanner or an accomplice) and took off in the opposite direction.

Every detail was planned, imo. I'd bet there were no fingerprints or DNA on those shell casings either.

Motive is the baffling part, which is why this case is opened for SOOO much speculation.

"Saving" Jayme is as good a theory as any except there really seems to be an element of revenge involved. Moo

Its a really strange case this one,I can go with the revenge or money owing to someone theory, kill the parents to show what they are capable of and take Jayme, sort of give us what we want or we will kill her too.

I think she had a stalker. Someone so obsessed he killed her parents to have her. She might have met him online. Might have thought he was saving her. I do not think she is still alive but there is always help. I have to remember Elizabeth Smart.

UPDATE: Barron Co. Sheriff pleads for tips in Closs case over the holidays

By Media Release- Barron Co. Sheriff's Office |
    Posted: Fri 3:47 PM, Dec 21, 2018 |
    Updated: Sun 4:37 PM, Dec 23, 2018

As we approach the holidays I want to remind everyone that we continue to follow up on tips and work on this case. As families get to together over the next week we ask that you continue to look for behavior or routine changes in people. There is a tip our there! It’s been 68 days since Jayme Closs went missing from her home. She is 13 years old and someone knows something. Maybe you don’t want to make that call because you are friends or family with the suspect. Do Jayme a favor this Christmas and call the tip line with your information. Barron County tip line 855-744-3879 or email [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Thank you all for the support and help on this case. Keep Believing and Never Give up Hope!

    Happy Holidays
    Sheriff Fitzgerald

I would sure like to hear some followup from the brother. He could be saying he thinks he knows something for attention or he really might know something. I would re-interview and maybe if he agrees to a lie detector. Also think it might get cold if they cant find her on video, made the team smaller and only have bullets for evidence.

I think Denise Closs' brother as well as her 2 sisters (Jayme's uncle and aunts) have all said they have gut feelings about what may have happened but the article didn't elaborate on what those ideas were:

The Barron County Sheriff’s Department has received more than 2,000 tips in the case since mid-October, but none of the leads have produced any suspects so far. Smith, Allard and Naiberg have some gut feelings about what might have happened, but nothing concrete.

Well I would like them to verbalize those feeling to LE and hope LE follows up. This is the first time I remembering hearing about family with "ideas" and I really hope someone gets more info.

‘She’s out there:’ Loved ones pray for return of 13-year-old Jayme Closs, missing for 2+ months

POSTED 4:54 PM, DECEMBER 31, 2018, BY [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], UPDATED AT 04:55PM, DECEMBER 31, 2018

BARRON -- Family members and friends of 13-year-old Jayme Closs gathered for a vigil on Sunday night, Dec. 30 -- lighting the "tree of hope" first erected in December in her honor.

Closs has been missing since Oct. 15, when her parents, James and Denise Closs, were found murdered in their Barron, Wisconsin home. Deputies responding to a 911 call found that someone had broken into the family's home in Barron and gunned down James and Denise Closs. Authorities believe Jayme was abducted and have ruled her out as a suspect in her parents' deaths. Detectives have pursued thousands of tips, watched dozens of surveillance videos and spent countless hours searching for Closs, but their efforts haven't yielded any suspects.

Briefly: Jayme escaped from where she was being held.
She ran to a woman who was walking her dog. The woman took Jayme to the nearest house and called 911. Both women recognized her from media sources. Suspect is 21 yr old Jake Thomas Patterson who is in custody.

Jayme Closs' family says she is 'full of big smiles' Saturday

    By WBAY Staff |
    Posted: Sat 7:19 PM, Jan 12, 2019

BARRON, Wis. (WBAY) -- Newly released photos from the family of Jayme Closs say she is ‘full of big smiles’ Saturday.

Jayme’s aunt, Jennifer Smith, posted the photos on Facebook.
In the post, Jennifer writes ‘Everyone is so proud of you, Jayme!!’
Jayme's cousin, Angela De Andriano, is managing the gofundme account Jayme is Home - Help Heal her Heart.

"These funds are going to go towards the journey with the family as they help Jayme through whatever it may be…driving to take care of her, taking her to the clinic, medical costs or anything," said De Andriano.

Often times in the wake of tragedy, bogus fundraisers pop-up on social media by scammers looking to take advantage of the situation.

"You’re going to want to examine the charity itself, the organizer; make sure they’ve included some kind of description of how they are related to the family, what specific details about what they’re going to do with the money," said Susan Bach of the Better Business Bureau.
A PO Box has been set where people can send cards and gifts:

Attn: Light the Way Home for Jayme Closs
    PO Box. 539
    Rice Lake, WI 54868

But by all accounts, Jake Thomas Patterson, the accused abductor-murderer in the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], was an average, even boring, young man.

The bespectacled 21-year old had no criminal record and shunned social media. He was unknown at the nearest bar and convenience store, and his closest neighbors didn’t know he was around.
Even those who do know Patterson recalled him as too unremarkable for the evil of which he is accused.

“Never in a million years would I have thought Jake would ever do something like that,” Elissa Lisenby, who attended Northwood High School with Patterson, told The Post on Saturday.
“This isn’t the Jake we all grew up knowing,” she said of her quiet, anxious classmate.
“Nobody really knew him like we thought,” former classmate Clinton Rolnik told The Post.

Jayme’s grandfather Robert Naiberg said Saturday that no one in the family knew Patterson.

“He didn’t know Jayme, he didn’t know Denise or Jim,” Naiberg said. “(Jayme) don’t know him from Adam. (But) he knew what he was doing. We don’t know if he was stalking her or what. Did he see her somewhere?”

Meanwhile, Patterson remained jailed in Barron County Jail pending a court hearing Monday.
He had been a good student at his Wisconsin middle and high school, classmates said.
Still, he was voted “most quiet” in his 2015 graduating class of 34 students, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

He didn’t go to his prom, or to the senior class trip to Florida, classmates told the paper. He was however, on the school’s quiz bowl team.
