A COUPLE from Victoria has disappeared while travelling in rural NSW and their family has serious concerns for their safety.

Mark Tromp, 51, and Jacoba “Coby” Tromp, 53, were last seen travelling in a grey Peugeot station wagon in the Central Tablelands after spending time at the Jenolan Caves early Tuesday morning.
Police issued an urgent appeal for sightings of the car, but it emerged this morning the vehicle had been found — in Victoria’s northeast — after a bizarre incident in Wangaratta last night.
The Herald Sun reports a local man saw a grey Peugeot station wagon following him and his girlfriend around the town about 10pm. It then stopped near Merriwa Park, and a man got out of the drivers seat and ran away.
Police and the Dog Squad searched the park, but failed to find the driver of the dumped car. The man had been alone in the car.
The Tromp’s were travelling with their three adult children but became separated from them, police said. The behaviour was out of character and family had “serious concerns” for their safety.

It is believed the couple left their residence in Silvan, east of Melbourne, on August 29 and travelled to NSW with their three adult children.
The family are believed to have driven to Bathurst and then the Jenolan Caves area in NSW, arriving in the early hours of Tuesday August 30.

They then separated from their kids and have not been seen since.
Victoria Police confirmed the couple left their bank cards and mobile phones at their Silvan home.
It is understood their adult children have grave concerns for their welfare.
Victoria Police spokesman Leading Senior Constable Paul Turner said the circumstances surrounding their disappearance remain unclear.
“Victoria Police continues to work closely with NSW police in the hope someone comes forward with information on their whereabouts,” he said.

Why did they seperate from their children? Could the man seen running have been one of their sons? Something is strange here imo.

Yes that is weird to leave everything at home. I wonder if this was planned to disappear?

Some things are not adding up,maybe it was planned but they would need a car unless they jumped on a plane.

Mr Chapman said the family holiday may have been the last opportunity for a break before the berry season starts in spring.
"It's quite typical for farmers this time of year when you're not busy on the farm," he said.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the circumstances surrounding their disappearance remained unclear.
"Victoria Police continues to work closely with NSW police in the hope someone comes forward with information on their whereabouts," she said.

Maybe they rented a car beforehand. We have heard some strange cases over the years. I just hope this was planned and that they are safe.

Police believe Mr Tromp is in north-east Victoria after the car he was travelling in was found at Wangaratta last night.
His son, Mitchell Tromp said the family, who operate a redcurrant farm in Silvan, had been under stress.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]Mark Tromp is still missing.Photo: AAP“It was a build–up of different, normal everyday events, pressure and it slowly got worse as the days went by,” he said.
Mitchell said his parents’ behaviour was out of character and he wanted to see his father return home.
“I really want my Dad to be found, if everyone out there can keep an eye out for him,” he said.
“He’s not dangerous, he’s my mate, he’s my father. I love him, I just want someone to find him so we can bring him home.”
Sergeant Mark Knight has described the incident as “the most bizarre case in 30 years”.
He said when he went to the family’s home on Tuesday he found the couple’s personal possessions such as bank cards and mobile phones and paperwork all over the house.
“This is a really unusual case,” he said.

They then split up from their parents some time after visiting the Jenolan Caves area, with the children deciding to return home.
Mitchell said his parents’ decision to leave the home was out of character.
“(It was) just a build up of events, just pressure that slowly got worse as the days went by … (I’ve) never seen anything like it … pretty hard to explain … they decided to leave,” he said.
Ella added: “We were a bit stressed at the time”.
Both children pleaded for their dad to present himself to police.
“We love you and we just want you to come home,” Mitchell said.
Ella described the family as close and said they worked closely together.
Meanwhile, on inspecting their home on Tuesday night, Sgt Knight described it as one of the more “bizarre” scenes with which he has been confronted.
“The house open, there was … paperwork all about the house,” he said.
“Keys were in cars, passports were there and phones were on the bench – it was an unusual scene.”
The family’s Peugeot station wagon had been spotted in Wangaratta yesterday afternoon, with a man later witnessed jumping out of the car and fleeing into Merriwa Park.
Sgt Knight confirmed they believed the man was Mark.

The couple had left their home in Silvan in Victoria on Monday to travel to NSW with their three adult children.

The children and the couple decided to split up as tensions mounted on the family holiday.
Police say Mrs Tromp was found by a passerby in Yass today, around 240km from where the pair were last seen, and taken to hospital.
Police have spoken with Mrs Tromp at hospital and say she is uninjured.
"She's presented herself at the Yass hospital, she is undergoing medical examination," Sergeant Mike Knight of Victoria Police told reporters today.

"I’ve never seen anything like it — it's really hard to explain or put a word on it but they were just fearing their lives and then they decided to flee."
Mitchell, 25, was the first of the children to leave the family trip at Kelso in NSW.
His sisters separated from their parents at the caves and went to Goulburn, where they then parted ways at a petrol station.
Police began investigating on Tuesday after Riana, 29, was found stressed on the side of the road in Goulburn and was taken to hospital, where she remains supported by family.

Have we found out why they were fearing and fleeing for their lives? I wonder if they owe money to someone and couldn't pay up?

Police fear Mark may not want to be found.

The family drove from their home and berry farm in Silvan, in Melbourne's outer-east, on Monday morning with no planned destination in an attempt to escape what had become a fraught atmosphere.

Son Mitchell, 25, said there was a "build-up" of pressure that had caused his parents to become "paranoid".

"It slowly got worse as the days went by. I've never seen anything like it - it's really hard to explain," he told reporters on Thursday.

"They were just fearing for their lives, and then [we] decided to flee.

"I've never seen anything like it. The best way to describe it is like a movie."

It is believed the family drove in daughter Ella's Peugeot to Bathurst and then the Jenolan Caves area.

The three children decided they did not want to continue on as their parents became increasingly mentally distressed.

Mitchell was the first to abandon the family holiday at Kelso, in Bathurst, on Tuesday. He went to Sydney, before catching an overnight train back to Melbourne.

Daughters Riana, 29, and Ella, 22, went to Goulburn, where they split up at a service station.

Riana was later found under mental stress on the side of the road and taken to hospital. Ella somehow acquired a car and made her way back home. Police are making inquiries into how she got the car.

Their parents left the Jenolan Caves area together, but later separated.

Ella said it was the "general stress of life" which had got too much for the family.

She said the pressure on the family meant they weren't thinking clearly when they packed up and left without taking their possessions or mobile phones.

"They're the best people in the world; I work with my dad and brother every day," she said.

Mitchell said his mum, who is also known as Coby, was occasionally anxious, but not to the extent that she was on the trip.

    snipped

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Sergeant Mark Knight said it was one of the most bizarre cases he had been involved with in his 30 years of policing.

Exactly what sparked the family split remains unclear. There had been some arguments over money and general family disputes, Sergeant Knight said.

"We knew the family was traumatised by something, but we didn't know what," he said.

"Some of the family members wanted to come home and didn't want to continue on the family holiday."

    snipped

Police in Wangaratta have not found evidence of Mark leaving the town by public transport and there has been no reports of cars being stolen.

Detectives were contacting local motels on Thursday to determine if he had stayed overnight.

This is really bizarre, did the parents take some kind of drug before embarking on the "family holiday"?
