Why Was Jacob Wetterling The #1 Trend On Twitter This Afternoon?

By [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] September 14, 2016 3:40 PM

This afternoon, I noticed that Jacob Wetterling was the number one trending topic on Twitter. Now, we know why.

This case has the full attention of every Minnesotan, and Governor Mark Dayton chose to honor Jacob in a special way. According to the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], “Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton on Wednesday ordered the I-35 West bridge to be cast in blue light” for eleven days. So, from tomorrow until September 25th.

This is a really cool idea! We’re also encouraged to use #11forJacob throughout the duration of this display, to honor him. The bridge is equipped with the lighting ability to do this, so that’s why it was chosen.

I was watching a lot of Youtube videos about Jacob recently and I honestly thought he wouldn't be found. This pedo freak was allowed to roam free for so long. It makes me sick.

Now, we need to find Johnny Gosch.

Thousands attend Minn. memorial for 11-year-old abducted in 1989

    September 25 at 7:04 PM

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — Thousands turned out Sunday to remember and celebrate the life of 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling, a Minnesota boy whose abduction nearly 27 years ago was recently solved with the discovery of his remains.

While Jacob became the face of missing children and his abduction in 1989 prompted new laws to protect children, he was remembered as a boy who loved hockey and fishing and the Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos, the St. Cloud Times reported.

Thousands filled Clemens Field House at the College of St. Benedict in Jacob’s home town of St. Joseph, with about 1,000 more watching from an overflow area. Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton (D) and Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D) and Al Franken (D) were among those who attended. The 75-minute service celebrated Jacob’s life with songs, prayers and memories while family photos were displayed on large screens.

Jacob’s family and friends lit 11 candles — the number of Jacob’s jersey — in his memory. The service featured a boys’ choir, the reading of a Native American prayer and the playing of Jacob’s favorite song, "Listen" by folk singer Red Grammer.

St. Benedict’s president, Mary Hinton, welcomed the crowd by saying that "all of our children are safer forever," thanks to the Wetterling family.

"We wouldn’t have survived the past 27 years without the love and support of all of you," Jacob’s mother, Patty Wetterling, told the crowd. "Jacob, we will always carry you in our hearts, and our love for you will never die."

Wetterlings now say they struggle with one question: Why?

    Oct 11, 2016

MINNEAPOLIS — When Patty Wetterling has the chance to talk face to face with the man who abducted and killed her son, she wants to know one thing: Why?

“It makes no sense,” Patty Wetterling said during an interview Tuesday afternoon. “I wrestle with the ‘Why?’ of all this. We know what happened and when and where, but we don’t know why. As a rational person, you try to figure it out, but this one you can’t, because it makes no sense.”

Wetterling will have a chance to address Danny Heinrich, 53, of Annandale, when he is sentenced in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis on Nov. 21. Heinrich last month confessed to abducting, sexually assaulting and fatally shooting 11-year-old Jacob on Oct. 22, 1989, in central Minnesota. He led authorities to the boy’s remains in a pasture outside Paynesville and will spend 20 years in prison on a child-pornography charge.

As part of the sentencing hearing, a victim-impact statement from the Wetterling family will be read in court. Patty Wetterling said she doesn’t know whether she will read it or have someone read it on her behalf.

“Jerry thinks I’ll probably talk, but I may need some coaching,” Wetterling said. “It is the ending of a chapter.”

Jerry Wetterling said Patty is struggling with whether to talk in court because she doesn’t want to give Heinrich “more power.”

“Well, if I really say the impact that he had, it makes him sound like some big guy, and he’s not worth it,” she said.

“He’s not a big guy, but he impacted a lot of people. That’s just a fact,” Jerry Wetterling said.

“It’s kind of like giving Jack the Ripper credit for being one of the worst. I don’t want to do that,” Patty Wetterling said. “I don’t know. I don’t know how to do it.

Wetterling Killer to Be Sentenced on Child Porn Charge

    MINNEAPOLIS — Nov 21, 2016, 1:51 AM ET

A [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] man who recently confessed to abducting, sexually assaulting and killing 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling 27 years ago is due to be sentenced on a [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] charge.

Fifty-three-year-old Danny Heinrich is due in federal court Monday morning.

He led authorities to Jacob's remains this summer as part of a plea bargain that ended a mystery that had haunted Minnesota for nearly three decades. In return, prosecutors agreed not to charge Heinrich with murder.

The plea bargain calls for a sentence of 20 years, the maximum the law allows on the child pornography count.

Minnesota man sentenced in child pornography case linked to 1989 murder

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

A Minnesota man was sentenced on Monday to 20 years in prison on a federal child pornography charge as part of a plea agreement earlier this year in which he confessed to assaulting and killing a boy in 1989, according to local media reports.

Danny Heinrich, 53, was handed the sentence in the U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Heinrich confessed in September to kidnapping, sexually assaulting and fatally shooting 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling in October 1989, in a case that stumped investigators for decades.

Heinrich's confession, in addition to helping lead police to the spot where he buried Wetterling's body, was part of a deal in which he pleaded guilty to a federal child pornography charge, but did not face charges in the killing.

Wetterling's parents, Patty and Jerry Wetterling, became advocates for missing children after his disappearance.

In court on Monday, Heinrich apologized to the Wetterlings, local reports said.

"The heinous acts of selfishness are unforgivable ... I'm so sorry," Heinrick said, according to reports by the Star Tribune, ABC affiliate KSTP, and NBC affiliate KARE 11.

Heinrich was named a person of interest in the abduction of Wetterling in October 2015 and was charged with possession and receipt of child pornography.

Authorities searched Heinrich's home in July 2015, finding child pornography in three-ring binders and on a computer hard drive. They also found dozens of videotapes Heinrich appeared to have filmed of young boys delivering newspapers, playing or riding bicycles, officials said, but Wetterling's picture was not among them.

In his confession in September, Heinrich recounted shooting Wetterling two times and also admitted to sexually assaulting another 12-year-old boy.

Wetterling's killer begins serving sentence near Boston

By [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] on Jan 24, 2017 at 10:59 p.m.

AYER, Mass. — Danny Heinrich, the killer of Jacob Wetterling, is expected to serve the remainder of his prison sentence at a federal prison outside Boston.

Heinrich is an inmate at the Federal Medical Center Devens in Ayer, Mass., about 40 miles northwest of Boston. FMC Devens is a prison for male inmates who require specialized long-term care, according to the prison’s website.

Heinrich, 53, is listed as inmate No. 18854-041, with a release date of March 28, 2033, on the U.S. Bureau of Prisons database.

Since leaving Minnesota on Dec. 23, Heinrich has been held at the Oklahoma City Federal Transfer Center and the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Heinrich was sentenced to 20 years for child pornography in November, two months after confessing to abducting, molesting and killing 11-year-old Jacob nearly three decades ago in central Minnesota. For years, the case attracted national attention and dominated headlines.
