Dateline nbc exclusive: Insiders speak for the first time about the jonbenét ramsey m

NEW YORK (September 6, 2016) – In her first-ever television interview, former Boulder, Colorado police department detective Jane Harmer tells “Dateline NBC” correspondent Josh Mankiewicz that she agreed with the grand jury recommendation to indict JonBenét Ramsey’s parents, saying: “I think that the grand jurors heard the evidence and came up with that conclusion and I would agree with their conclusion.” Harmer adds she also agreed with the district attorney’s decision not to pursue charges against the Ramseys and she explains why as part of a two-hour “Dateline NBC” special, “Who Killed JonBenét?” debuting Friday, September 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The “Dateline NBC” special also features an interview with Bob Whitson, a retired detective sergeant at Boulder PD who was at the Ramsey house on the day the murder investigation began. Whitson is an advocate of the “Intruder Theory,” as some close to the case believe the murderer broke into the Ramsey’s house.

“The behavior at the scene does not match up” with the Ramseys, Whitson tells Dateline. “It matches up a sexually sadistic person and a psychopath.”

“Dateline NBC: Who Killed JonBenét?” includes crucial case documents that have never before been made public, and the first TV interview with Tom Haney, a former Denver police department detective who was brought in by the Boulder district attorney’s office to interview Patsy Ramsey. It also features tapes of the police interview with Burke Ramsey, JonBenét’s brother, and interviews with key players in the case and people close to the Ramseys, including: Pam Barday, a Ramsey family friend; Kimberly Archuleta, the 9-1-1 dispatcher who took Patsy Ramsey’s call on the morning of December 26, 1996; Fred Patterson, a former Boulder PD detective; and Ron Walker, a former agent in the FBI’s Denver office.

Thanks MKM! I set my DVR just now, don't want to miss it. I goofed up on Monday, forgot there was a special on A&E "The Killing of JonBenet: The Truth Uncovered." There's an interview with 9 year old Burke Ramsey shortly after the crime, that's never been made public, hoping I can find it online.

JonBenét Ramsey's Killer Was 'Sexually Sadistic,' Detective Says in New Dateline Special

    09/09/2016

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey, who was found dead in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado, on Dec. 26, 1996.

Many theories – but few answers – have been found in the wake of the child beauty pageant's death, despite years of investigation.

On Friday, NBC Dateline will air a two-hour special, Who Killed JonBenét?, on the JonBenét, who was found strangled by a garrote with a severe blow to the head. The show will feature exclusive interviews with former detectives involved in the investigation and the 911 operator who took the call of Patsy Ramsey, JonBenét's mother, that fateful morning.

The Ramsey family has long maintained that an intruder broke into their home and killed their daughter.

In the special, former Boulder police department detective Jane Harmer discusses why she was supportive of the grand jury's decision to indict JonBenét's parents – but also why she also felt that the district attorney’s choice not to pursue charges against the Ramseys was the right one.

Also featured in the special are interviews with Tom Haney, a former Denver detective brought in by Boulder authorities to interview Patsy Ramsey, and retired Boulder detective Bob Whitson, who was at the Ramsey's Tudor home on the day the murder investigation was launched and became an advocate of the "Intruder Theory."

"The behavior at the scene does not match up" with the Ramseys, Whitson tells Dateline. "It matches up a sexually sadistic person and a psychopath."

The show will also highlight tapes of the police interview with JonBenet's brother Burke as well as an interview with Pam Barday, a Ramsey family friend.
