Good grief, can't believe her and her family would even suggest these packages contained head phones!
Blind Freddy would know they are not just headphones.

It would be interesting to know if the packages were concealed in the suitcase, like in the lining or something.

She's naive all right, more like stupid for not thinking of a better plane. Would like to hear the excuse she gave for her ticket being paid for from Hong Kong.

Makes sense. I would still open at least one box to make sure they were good ones if I was giving them all as gifts.

The father of accused drug smuggler Cassie Sainsbury has told 9NEWS he does not believe his daughter is guilty of attempting to traffic cocaine from Colombia.
Stuart Sainsbury said he had been left in the dark about his daughter’s case.
“A father’s love is unconditional it never stops, regardless of what happens,” Mr Sainsbury told 9NEWS from his home in Warooka on the Yorke Peninsula.

I think what we see in the picture is how the "headphones" were delivered to her.

“In going through security we found she had 18 packets inside her luggage which even before opening it we found covered in plastic,” Mr Mendoza told ABC radio through an interpreter.

And why would someone else be funding her trip unless they had something to gain.
The family lied about her being on a working holiday in Columbia,we have no deal with Columbia regarding working visas.

That story seems to have changed.

Lawyer Orlando Herran said she received the pre-wrapped packages from a man who claimed they were headphones and packed them in her luggage at the last minute.
"She bought several headphones, supposedly to sell them in Australia and gain money," he said.

COLOMBIAN police have revealed more information about the tip-off that led to Cassie Sainsbury’s arrest, saying they had been looking for the Australian for a week.

It was previously reported Ms Sainsbury, 22, was arrested at a Bogota airport after a tip-off from the US Drug Enforcement Agency. One of the red flags raised was related to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]bought for Ms Sainsbury by an unknown party in Hong Kong.
But it’s now been confirmed that police were on the alert much earlier, with a tip-off about Ms Sainsbury received on April 5, a couple of days after she arrived in Colombia and a week before she tried to depart the country on April 12.
Jorge Mendoza, the ports and airports director for Colombia’s anti-narcotic police told [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] the tip-off included Ms Sainsbury’s name, nationality and photo.
He said authorities searched through airline ticket records but could not find travel booked under Ms Sainsbury’s name and so were a bit confused about it.

THE lawyer for accused drug smuggler Cassandra Sainsbury has revealed the psychological toll her incarceration is taking, as a judge pours cold water on her bid to serve her sentence in Australia if she's found guilty.
Ms Sainsbury's Colombian legal representative, Orlando Herran, told 9 News that she was having a "difficult" time behind bars in El Buen Pastor women's jail in Bogota.
"I can see she's very difficult, she's very affected, psychologically affected," he said.
Mr Herran said Ms Sainsbury keeps saying how "stupid" she was, and is "permanently crying".
The lawyer plans to request that she serve jail time in Australia if she is found guilty of smuggling 5.8 kilograms of cocaine that was allegedly found hidden inside 18 headphone boxes in her suitcase at El Dorado International Airport in Colombia.
However, the judge who initially put Ms Sainsbury in jail says that is unlikely.
"The system is clear. Do the crime in Colombia, do the time in Colombia," judge John Jairo Zambraro told 9 News through an interpreter.

In a stunning development, the Nine Network can reveal accused drug mule Cassandra Sainsbury worked as a prostitute at a brothel in western Sydney for a number of months in the lead up to her ill-fated trip to Colombia.
A major investigation by 9NEWS and 60 Minutes has uncovered claims the 22-year-old left behind a trail of deceit, even lying about her own mother’s death for financial advantage.
The bombshell revelations help to piece together missing links in the somewhat patchy back story of the young woman from Adelaide - specifically who she had been mixing with in the months before she was arrested allegedly trafficking 5.8 kilograms of cocaine at Bogota Airport.

Accused drug mule Cassie Sainsbury was threatened by an international drugs syndicate which forced her to act as a drug mule, after responding to a ‘too-good-to-be-true’ Craigslist advertisement, her lawyer claims.
Ms Sainsbury, who faces the possibility of spending the next two decades behind bars, isn’t “a bad person”, Colombian attorney Orlando Herron told 60 Minutes reporter Liam Bartlett, “she simply made a mistake”.
