Tiger Woods Arrested On Suspicion of DUI

Tiger Woods, arrested on suspicion of DUI, blames prescriptions

Updated 9:46 PM ET, Mon May 29, 2017

(CNN)Golfer Tiger Woods, arrested on Memorial Day in Florida on suspicion of driving under the influence, said alcohol was not involved and he had "an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications."

Woods, currently rehabbing from back surgery, provided a statement to media outlets. He said he did not realize the mix of medications "had affected me so strongly."

"I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions," Woods said, according to reports.

Woods was arrested about 3 a.m. Monday, Jupiter police spokeswoman Kristin Rightler said. He was booked into a local jail and released on his own recognizance with no bond a few hours later, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office's online records.

It's unclear whether Woods tested positive for alcohol or drugs. It's also unknown at this time whether Woods was the only person in the vehicle. An arrest report was not immediately available.

Golfer Tiger Woods says prescription medication led to DUI arrest in Jupiter

    11:12 AM, May 29, 2017 - 1 hour ago

JUPITER, Fla. - Golfer Tiger Woods was charged with driving under the influence early Monday morning in Jupiter and said later in a written statement that prescribed medications contributed to the arrest.

Woods, a Jupiter Island resident, was taken into custody at 3 a.m. on Military Trail south of Indian Creek Parkway.

Palm Beach County Jail records indicate Woods, 41, was booked at 7:18 a.m. He was released from custody on his own recognizance, meaning no bail money was necessary, at 10:50 a.m.

The 14-time major champion has not played since withdrawing from the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in February.

Ongoing back problems have sidelined his career for much of the last three years.

In April, he said in a post on his website that he underwent successful back surgery to alleviate ongoing pain in his back and leg.

It's unclear if Woods was given a breathalyzer at the time he was stopped by police. Jupiter police have not released the arrest report.

So with no breathalyzer testing he can say anything he wants to say. He surely looked drunk to me.

Yes it sounds like he's being treated like an American hero and not one that fell from grace! Ho hum.

Exactly, really ticks me off, the officer smelled alcohol on his breath, but he refused to take a breathalyzer. To be honest, I wasn't aware that a person could refuse!

Back when he assaulted his then wife, he was on Ambien. Ambien is a sleeping pill, imo he probably took that again and that would make him look like that in his mugshot. But LE said he smelled alcohol so one of them is lying and I would bet it's Tiger. He is so washed up now, he will never make his "come back" after this new incident.

Tiger Woods was asleep at the wheel of his 2015 Mercedes Benz when he was approached by police early Monday morning during his DUI arrest in Jupiter, Florida.

The 41-year-old golfer had to be woken up by an officer according to the Probable Cause Affidavit, which states that the car was running at the time and Woods' right blinker was flashing.

Woods then failed four field sobriety tests according to the affidavit, which also reveals that Woods was on four prescription drugs - Soloxer, Vicodin, Torix and Viox.

After failing those four tests, Woods did submit to a breathalyzer and blew a .000 two times, which suggests that there was no alcohol in his system.

The Probable Cause Affidavit, which was obtained by DailyMail.com, states that prior to taking those tests, Woods had 'extremely slow and slurred speech' and did not know where he was at the time.

The affidavit states that at 2:03am, Eldrick T. Woods was approached by a member of the Jupiter Police Department, who found him sound asleep at the wheel of his $222,000 Mercedes.

The star's car was idling in the middle of Military Trail about one mile from police headquarters, a deserted stretch of road at night but an extremely busy traffic artery during the day. Both his brake lights and flashers were on.

After he was woken by cops, Woods -- who was alone in the car -- told them he had no idea where he was, according to the paperwork.

'Woods stated that he was coming from LA California from golfing,' reads the report.

'Woods stated that he did not know where he was. Woods had changed the story of where he was was going and where he was coming from.'

He then asked 'how far from his house he was,' according to the affidavit.

Wearing athletic shorts and a t-shirt, Woods was actually driving south, away from his home on Jupiter Island, the report notes.

Woods was described as cooperative and confused at first in the reports, which goes on to reveal that he agreed to a breathalyzer despite earlier reports.

He seriously needs to go to rehab, maybe a 1 year inpatient one would be good.

Technically you can't but they really can't force you to breath into anything. In my state if you refuse, you go to jail, your license is automatically suspended, you will have fines and depending on circumstances you may have to get an ignition interlock when and if you get your license back.

$222,000 Mercedes, on the side of the road at 2:00 am, he's lucky the cops found him and he wasn't carjacked and left by the side of the road with a bullet in his head.

Heard he also had 2 flat tires and recent body damage to the car.
He's lucky he didn't kill anyone.

Tiger Woods 'checks into rehab to keep shared custody of his two children' after 3am DUI arrest when he was found slumped at wheel after taking cocktail of prescription drugs

    June 12, 2017

Tiger Woods has checked into a Florida rehabilitation center in order to keep shared custody of his two children after his 3am DUI arrest last month, it has been claimed.

The golfer is said to have booked out the entire male inpatient unit at The Jupiter Medical Center for 28 days to be treated for 'pain killer addiction'.

Radar Online cites an anonymous source who said the stint aims to settle the concerns of his ex-wife Elin Nordegren.

The pair have shared custody of daughter Sam, nine, and son Charlie, eight, since their 2010 divorce but, according to the friend, part of their agreement was that Woods was to avoid any public scandal in order to keep his share.

If he breaks it, he could see his time with the children cut by 20 percent - leaving them with Elin 70 percent of the time and giving him just 30 percent.

Woods' arrest on May 29 has prompted her to consider applying for full custody of the children, they claimed.

I wouldn't blame her if she does ask for full custody, it's a shame that it took this incident for him to get help!
