Found Safe: 6 children lost near Topaz Mountain while camping with parents

6 children lost near Topaz Mountain while camping with parents
    Jun 25, 2017

PARK COUNTY, Colo. – Six children have gone missing on Topaz Mountain while camping with their parents over the weekend, authorities said Sunday.

The kids, who have been reported as missing since 1:30 p.m., range from 6 to 14 years of age.

Park County Sheriff’s Office deputies said they went too far while taking a walk and were expected to be back soon, but have not been seen since by their parents.

Asked if there was a more precise location where the children may be located, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office only said the nearest location would be near County Road 56.

A search and rescue team is on scene.

A description of the children was not immediately available.

I can't believe the parents let the kids go off on their own, even though they had a 14 year old with them. So easy to get lost.

I saw a video on you tube. an ex-policeman has written a book called Missing 411. He has discovered that at least 411 people have disappeared from national parks. Mostly children. Mostly not found. Some of the children that have been found deceased are found naked and many miles away with their clothes folded. It was pretty strange. After reading it I would not take my children near a national park if I had any.
