Second Slenderman Stabbing Suspect Will Avoid Prison, Agrees to Plead Guilty by Reason of Mental Illness

    Sept 29, 2017

The second of two Wisconsin girls who stabbed a classmate 19 times – in the name of a fictional Internet horror character known as Slenderman – will avoid prison when she enters a plea of guilty by reason of mental illness, her attorney said.

Morgan Geyser, 15, will enter the plea Thursday to the charge of first-degree intentional homicide. She was scheduled to stand trial before a jury next month, but after her plea there will be no trial, her attorney said.

Earlier this month, Anissa Weier, also 15, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree homicide as a party to a crime with use of a deadly weapon. Both girls were charged as adults in the 2014 attack on Payton Leutner, then 12, in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

“After the plea is entered, there will be an evaluation done on Morgan to determine where she will be placed and whether she still needs institutional care or something else,” her attorney, Donna Kuchler, said at a Friday press conference. “It has been a tragic experience for everyone. Our hearts go out to the victim and her family.”

    What sad story this is.
Not condoning or excusing either of these girls.
I just feel sad for the whole thing and everyone involved.
    Thank heavens it finally done.
    For a few years anyway.

Slender Man Suspect Will Plead Guilty in Stabbing

One of two Wisconsin girls charged with stabbing a classmate to impress the fictitious horror character Slender Man will plead guilty in a deal that calls for her to avoid prison time, attorneys announced Friday.

Fifteen-year-old Morgan Geyser will remain in a state mental hospital under an agreement announced in a court hearing two weeks before her trial was set to start. The deal calls for Geyser to be evaluated by doctors who will report to a judge for a determination of how long she should remain in treatment

Geyser and Anissa Weier were charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the 2014 attack on classmate Payton Leutner. Weier pleaded guilty to a reduced charge last month, and a jury later concluded she was mentally ill at the time of the crime. She faces at least three years in a mental hospital.
All three girls were 12 at the time.

It's been a tragic experience for everyone" Geyser's attorney, Donna Kuchler, said after the brief court hearing. "Our hearts go out to the victim and her family. And we're very grateful that the district attorney's office gave this case the considering it deserves," she said.

A plea hearing to make the deal official is scheduled for Thursday

Prosecutors: Keep Slender Man attacker in hospital 40 years

    Oct 5, 2017

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — Prosecutors asked a judge Thursday to sentence a girl to 40 years in a mental hospital for stabbing a classmate in an attack she said was done to please the fictional horror character Slender Man.

Morgan Geyser, now 15, broke down in sobs during her plea hearing as a judge asked her to recount the 2014 stabbing of a classmate in a Milwaukee-area park. A co-defendant, Anissa Weier, also admitted a role in the attack.

An emotional Geyser referred to the victim by her nickname as she began to recount for the judge the crime for which she was pleading guilty.

“I hurt Bella,” Geyser said, stopping several times to compose herself during the hearing as she told the judge she stabbed her classmate with a knife she took from home.

“Anissa said that she couldn’t do it and then I had to,” Geyser said, her voice choking. When Judge Michael Bohren asked her where the girl was stabbed, Geyser said: “Everywhere.”

The victim, Payton Leutner, survived the attack by crawling out of woods, where she was found by a passing bicyclist. All three girls were 12 at the time.

Geyser will undergo a doctor’s evaluation by Nov. 13, and a hearing for sentencing was to be scheduled later. The defense made no request for length of sentence because the attorneys are waiting for the evaluation.

She agreed last week to plead guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide to avoid prison, continuing treatment in a mental hospital instead.
