    Cardinal George Pell.

If, as expected, George Pell walks into the Melbourne Magistrates Court this morning, he will make history.
Never before has a Cardinal appeared in a courtroom to answer charges of sex offences. Not in Melbourne, not in Australia, not anywhere else in the world.
Unless special arrangements are made the third-highest ranked member of the Catholic Church – the man dubbed the Vatican’s Accountant – will enter via the front steps, where he will encounter a media contingent which may well be larger than any ever seen on William Street.
While reports of swarms of international media being flown by the planeload into Melbourne are probably overstated, there’s likely to be little room for the Cardinal to walk through the phalanx of cameras and microphones.

We had a question at our Faith meeting. It was 'What do you think will change in the Catholic Church in the next 50 years?'.

Priests will be allowed to marry. It's long over due.

I never in my life heard of such sexual encounters going on in my church all the time I was raising my children.

I used to drop off my 10-12 year old handsome son at church early in the morning still dark so he could serve at Mass.

When I heard of such things panic overtook me. I had to ask him...did they ever? He said no and I hope and pray nothing did.

I thought I was dropping him off in the safest place in America...my church but I never knew what could have happened to him there.

A man of God taking a vow of chastity doing something like that. What's wrong with people!

Im so pleased nothing happened to your son Justy, priests seem to be a dying breed,if we need a priest in my town we have to borrow one from another town.
It will be interesting to hear what Pell has to say for himself, turning a blind eye to it all is disgusting.

Cardinal George Pell has arrived at a Melbourne court to face charges of historical sexual offences, escorted by police through a packed scrum of waiting journalists and demonstrators.
The 76-year-old made the short walk from his lawyer's office to the Melbourne Magistrates Court, where he was confronted by a barrage of reporters and flashing news cameras. Supporters of abuse victims held placards and clapped and yelled as he entered the court.
The third-highest ranking member of the Catholic Church walked up the stairs of the court, and underwent security scanning. He will now wait for his case to be called.

Cardinal George Pell has been found guilty and is set to be jailed for child sexual abuse in the most sensational verdict since the Catholic church became engulfed in worldwide abuse scandals.
Pell, who was Vatican treasurer, close to the Pope and one of the most senior Catholic figures in the world to be charged with child sex offences, has been found guilty of orally raping one choirboy and molesting another in Melbourne’s St Patrick’s Cathedral 22 years ago.
Australian media has been unable to report the guilty verdict until now, due to a suppression order.

Thanks for the update, Dingo. I'm glad he was convicted.
