    Disappearance of Ayla Reynolds

Ayla had been sent for a stay with her father, Justin DiPietro, by her mother and primary caretaker, Trista Reynolds. She was reported missing from her bed on December 17, 2011. According to DiPietro and police, the last time he saw Ayla, she was wearing green polka dot pajamas with "Daddy's Princess" written across them, along with a soft cast on her left arm. There were two people, besides DiPietro, in the house at the time of Ayla's disappearance - his girlfriend Courtney Roberts, and his sister Alisha DiPietro.

Ayla Reynolds is the daughter of Trista Reynolds and Justin DiPietro. Neither have been charged in relation to the case; however, State investigators and Trista Reynolds have both expressed that they believe DiPietro has not been forthcoming about his knowledge of Ayla's disappearance

A news conference was held by state police in May 2012 to discuss recent developments in the case, such as the discovery of blood in her father's house and the number of people who were present at the time of her disappearance. The blood was confirmed to be more than a cupful of Ayla's blood, adjacent to DiPietro's bed. The only comment state investigators made at the time of its discovery was that it was 'more blood than a small cut would produce.

Hmmm, more than a cupful of her blood adjacent to dad's bed and he wasn't charged for anything?

Ayla’s mom says toddler’s father isn’t telling ‘the whole truth’
    April 29, 2012

WATERVILLE, Maine — The mother of a 20-month-old missing girl in Maine says she has now spoken to the toddler’s father but that she still has unanswered questions about the disappearance.

Trista Reynolds said Tuesday that she still isn’t getting “the whole truth” about what happened in Justin DiPietro’s Waterville home on the night Ayla Reynolds went missing.

Reynolds criticized DiPietro for refusing to speak to her after Ayla’s disappearance. She said Tuesday on NBC’s “Today” show that they’ve now spoken, but she still wonders why he waited more than two weeks to make a public appearance to appeal for the return of their daughter.

Ayla Reynolds’ Mother Calls For Arrests In Missing Girl Case; Continues To Release New Evidence
    9/25/2013

When the mother of missing Maine toddler Ayla Reynolds was shown the last spot her daughter was seen, she saw blood.

There was blood on a doll in Ayla’s bedroom. There was blood on the living room sofa. There was blood in the basement where Ayla’s father, Justin DiPietro, slept, on the floor, walls, mattress and sheets. There was blood on the tongue of DiPietro’s sneakers, and even blood on Ayla’s car seat in DiPietro’s car.

I don't understand how there could be so much blood in the house and no charges.

Mother of missing Maine toddler Ayla Reynolds reveals secret evidence
    September 14, 2013

The Maine mother is so aggravated with investigators and the lack of apparent movement in the case, she is revealing some evidence, never before publicly shared, that Reynolds says police disclosed to her about a year after Ayla went missing from her father's home in December 2011.

Reynolds said authorities showed her photographic evidence of 20-month-old Ayla's blood and saliva allegedly on the shoes of her father, Justin DiPietro, and inside his vehicle, according to her stepgrandfather, Jeff Hanson.

Officially, Ayla's disappearance is considered a missing-person case. However, police have said "foul play" was involved.

Ayla Reynolds case takes new turn

Waterville toddler reported missing December 2011

    Published 7:48 AM EDT May 25, 2016

WATERVILLE, Maine —One of the adults in the home the night before Waterville toddler Ayla Reynolds was reported missing gave a television interview to a syndicated crime show.

The girl’s mother is threatening a civil lawsuit against Ayla’s father, his mother, sister and ex-girlfriend.

A reporter from "Crime Watch Daily," a California-based show, recently visited the home where Ayla was reported missing. In a rare interview, Elisha DiPietro, the toddler’s aunt, divulged some information that has never been reported.

“On the record, I will say we do believe she is out there somewhere,” DiPietro said.

Police have said due to the amount of blood found in the house at 29 Violette Ave. in Waterville, the 20-month-old is dead. The girl’s father told police Ayla was abducted.

Justin DiPietro, his former girlfriend, Courtney Roberts, and his sister, Elisha DiPietro, were all in the house the night before Ayla was reported missing in December 2011.

“She had been vomiting quite a lot. She had lactose issues, so she had been sick,” Elisha DiPietro told “Crime Watch Daily” when asked about the blood.

When asked if there was foul play in the house that night, Elisha DiPietro said, “No foul play in the house that night. My brother is a good father and he loved his daughter. He still loves her.”

Trista Reynolds, Ayla’s mother, and other family members said they will pursue a civil lawsuit against the three adults in the house and Phoebe DiPietro, Justin’s mother, who owns the house, in hopes that the entire truth will come out.

Always praying Ayla will be found.

Missing toddler Ayla Reynolds declared legally dead

NEWS CENTER , WCSH 11:16 AM. EDT May 30, 2017

    PORTLAND, Maine

(NEWS CENTER) -- Five years after she disappeared, Ayla Reynolds is now considered dead by Maine's court system.

request from Ayla's mother, Trista Reynolds, to have her declared legally dead was approved, according to paperwork from the Cumberland County Probate Court.

Ayla was 21 months old when she disappeared from a house in Waterville in December 2011. She was in the care of her father, Justin DiPietro, his sister Elisha and his girlfriend, Courtney Roberts, at a home owned by DiPietro's mother.

Police said their investigation found traces of Ayla's blood in the home where she disappeared. But extensive searches in the surrounding area failed to find further signs of her. No arrests have been made in the case.

So if Ayla is declared dead, does this mean someone can be charged with her murder?

Oh for sure. If they have any, get any evidence.
In the eyes of the court she is dead. That means if any evidence they have or is found to be able to charge, they can.
There is no statute of limitations on murder.
